If you believe a user is in immediate danger, contact local authorities first
Report safety concerns: safety@areyoufaster.app
1. Location Data (GPS)
What We Collect:
- Your precise GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, altitude)
- Speed and direction of movement
- Horizontal and vertical accuracy measurements
- Timestamps of location samples
When We Collect It:
- Only during active workout sessions (when you start a run)
- Tracking continues even when your screen is locked or you switch to another app, so you can safely pocket your phone during runs
- Tracking stops immediately when you end your workout
Why We Collect It:
- To measure your running distance and calculate pace
- To generate route maps showing where you ran
- To power the game mechanics (comparing your progress against virtual animal opponents)
- To calculate calories burned
How Long We Keep It:
- Location data is stored locally on your device as part of your run history
- You can delete individual runs at any time, which permanently deletes associated location data
- All location data is immediately deleted when you delete your account
Important Note: We use iOS background location capability to ensure continuous tracking when your screen is locked during runs. This is standard for fitness apps and allows you to safely pocket your phone without interrupting your workout tracking.
2. Motion & Activity Data
What We Collect:
- Device motion sensor data (accelerometer, gyroscope)
- Activity type detection (walking, running, stationary)
Why We Collect It:
- To optimize GPS accuracy and battery consumption
- To detect when you're actively moving versus stationary
- To improve the quality of your route tracking
How We Use It:
- Motion data is processed in real-time and is not stored permanently
- Used only for immediate GPS optimization during your runs
3. Account Information
What We Collect:
When you sign in with Apple Sign-In:
- User ID (Apple's unique identifier for your account)
- Email address (optional - you can use Apple's "Hide My Email" feature)
- Display name (optional)
When you sign in with Google Sign-In:
- User ID (Google's unique identifier)
- Email address
- Display name
- Profile photo URL (if you've set one)
Why We Collect It:
- To create and maintain your user account
- To associate your workout data with your profile
- To enable account recovery
How We Store It:
- Account credentials (OAuth tokens) are stored securely in your device's iOS Keychain
- Account information is stored locally in encrypted CoreData on your device
- We do not transmit your account information to any external servers
